History
Proxense began life in late 2001, when its founder, John Giobbi, conceptualized the initial technology and filed the initial intellectual property. The IP portfolio was consistently broadened over the next several years, and the company was formally established in mid-2005.
Proxense Management Team
John Giobbi – Chief Executive Officer
John is a technology company veteran, with 25+ years developing technology-based products and managing their successful application to significant market opportunities. Most recently, as a senior executive (SVP, Product Development & Engineering) at WMS Industries, Inc. [NYSE:WMS] from 1995-2001, WMS’ innovative products won numerous awards, fueled tremendous sales/company growth, and propelled WMS to its current market-leading position within the industry. He is a naturally charismatic leader with outstanding communications skills and a strongly competitive spirit. He has been named as sole inventor on approximately 30 issued technology and design patents and managed/co-developed over 100 additional patents.
David Brown – Chief Technology Officer
David has over 27 years design experience in wireless communications. He was Chief Engineer of Digital Technologies for XM Satellite Radio Inc., was a key member of XM’s startup team, developed SDARS protocols, system architectures, and core satellite radio technology. He served ten years at Motorola analyzing protocols and leading cutting edge IC/SOC design for the Personal Communication Sector (micro-cellular) and Paging Division Core Technology Group. He holds 20+ issued technology patents.
Mike Osborn – Chief Financial Officer
Mike is a veteran of six startups, in the role of Founder or founding CFO. He was CFO at IntelliChem, a Bend-based software company selling electronic lab notebooks to the pharmaceutical industry which subsequently completed a merger with Symyx Technologies. Previously, Mike was the founding CFO of Digital Systems, a Redmond, WA telecommunications firm. Mike holds an MBA from Harvard.
Robert Pruter – Vice President of Sales
Robert brings 20 years of Sales Management experience to the Proxense team. He has worked with a number of start-ups and has built numerous sales organizations from the ground up, and has significant large-company experience as well. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Aspyra and also held the position of National Sales Director for AGFA Healthcare. He built and managed the ambulatory group for this multi-national healthcare information systems company. Prior to AGFA, he was the Director of Sales for RIS Logic, a start-up that became the industry leader and was eventually acquired by Merge Healthcare. He is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) with a degree in economics/business.
Jason Gilbert – Vice President of Product Development
Jason has over 20 years design and electronics experience, specializing in high volume product manufacturing, most recently for XM Radio, where he served as Senior Chief Engineer. Prior to this, Jason spent over ten years in pager & cell phone development, at Motorola’s Paging Division. Additionally, Jason brings extensive knowledge and experience in FPGA platforms for IC development. Jason holds a BSEE and MSIE from the University of Central Florida.
Richard Camden – Vice President of RF Technology
Richard has over 25 years of design and development experience related to RF electronics and over 15 years of RFIC design experience. He previously worked for XM Satellite Radio where he served as VP in charge of RFIC designs; since 2000 he managed the development of 10 custom XM RFIC designs. Prior to XM, Rich worked with Motorola in the IC development group and the PCS product development teams developing 2 GHz cellular technologies; and with Westinghouse Defense Electronics with airborne radar designs. Richard holds a BSEE from Virginia Tech and a MSEE from the University of Miami.
Matt Davio – Business Development
Matt has over 18 years business development, sales & marketing experience in medical & technical categories, including six years in business development at DeRoyal Industries and Cardinal Health. He also has extensive financial experience managing hedge funds, trading, fund raising as a partner at Peak 6, Parallax hedge Fund and Red Rock Partners.
Proxense Medical Advisory Board
The Company’s management utilizes its Advisory Board for guidance on management issues, as well as input on targeted industries and planned applications for those industries. The Company continues to grow its Advisory Board and will be adding experienced professionals for additional counsel and perspective, as needed. Currently, the Company’s Advisory Board includes the following:
- Dr. Ryan Gallivan – Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgery, St. Charles Medical Center, Bend Oregon. Long-term interest in Health Information Technologies led him to co-develop key elements of the ProxMED applications suite with John Giobbi.
- Dr. Kent Yundt – Adult and Pediatric Neurosurgery, St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, Oregon. Chief of Surgery, St. Charles Medical Center, Bend, Oregon.; American Medical Association, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Oregon Medical Association.
- Mike Bonetto, PhD. – Health Policy, Master of Public Health, Oregon State University; Master of Science, California State University, Fullerton; Bachelor of Arts, Occidental College. Partner, ZoomCare, Portland, OR; Chair, HealthMatters of Central Oregon; Chair, Deschutes County Public Health Advisory Board; Federal Laws Committee of Oregon Health Fund Board.

The Company’s IP portfolio is managed by a partner of Fenwick & West (San Francisco, CA). Fenwick & West is lead IP counsel to Google and other tech leaders.
